  • Why eat fat to lose fat?
    It may seem counter-intuitive to eat fat to lose fat but a gram of fat has more calories (9) than a gram of protein or carbs (4 each). Eating fat fills you up, reduces appetite and causes simple weight loss without the need for exercise.
  • What are macros?
    Macronutrients, or macros for short, are the three main types of calories we consume: Fat, Protein, and Carbohydrates. Adjusting how many daily calories come from specific macronutrient foods determines how weight is gained or lost.
  • I thought only calories mattered for weight loss?
    Calories matter in part. But what is more important is what kind of food the calories come from. Protein and Fat contain essential nutrients, which your body requires for life, and protein foods - which contain fats - are available year round pretty much everywhere on the planet. Carbohydrates, from vegetables and fruits, do not contain any essential nutrients, which is why they are normally only available seasonally.
  • Will I need supplements on Keto diet?
    No. A clean, whole food diet of fresh meat and vegetables contains a lot of nutrition. If you eat seasonal produce, as I recommend, then you get a large variety of fresh nutrients and minerals from the different plants you eat. Plant foods are not required, but they are tasty and add variety to your menu. Keto with or without veggies is called Ketovore.
